How to save on dental costs with Medisave and CHAS

It is no secret that dental costs in Singapore can be quite high, especially if you need more than just a routine cleaning or check-up. Even with basic dental procedures such as fillings and extractions, the bill can quickly add up.

At WeSmile dental, we aim to keep our prices competitive.

The initiative of making dental accessible for everyone is supported by dental subsidies in Singapore. These dental subsidies are available through two main programs: Medisave and Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS). Read on to find out more about these 2 programs!

What is Medisave?

Medisave is a national savings program that allows Singaporeans to set aside money for their future healthcare needs.

What is CHAS?

CHAS is a government-funded program that provides subsidies to Singaporeans who have difficulty paying for their healthcare needs.

What dental treatments are covered under Medisave and CHAS?

Medisave accounts and CHAS offer significant subsidies for a wide range of dental treatments, including preventive care, basic procedures, and major surgeries, making it more affordable for Singaporeans.

How can Medisave and CHAS help save on dental costs?

Both Medisave and CHAS offer subsidies that can help to defray the cost of dental treatments. For example, Medisave offers up to $500 for certain preventive and basic dental procedures, while CHAS provides subsidies of up to 80% for eligible Singaporeans.

Medisave subsidies for dental

All three WeSmile dental clinics are accredited by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and CPF. This means that for Singaporeans and PRs, a portion of surgical expenses may be claimed from your Medisave.

Medisave can be used to pay for selected dental surgical procedures, such as dental implants, wisdom tooth extractions, surgical removal of retained roots or fractured teeth, bone graft, and gum surgery.

Drop our clinics a call to understand if your treatment can be claimed from Medisave.

CHAS subsidies for dental

The colour of the CHAS card indicates the subsidy tier that the cardholder is entitled to. The amount the cardholder will pay depends on the fees of the clinic and the amount of subsidy.

  • Up to $50 to $170.50 subsidy per procedure (on selected dental services, such as denture, crown, and root canal treatment)

Dental subsidies for the CHAS Blue card

As you can see, one’s eligibility for subsidies is dependent on citizenship, age, health condition, and treatment. Therefore, if you are planning to undergo a dental procedure, be sure to check with us if Medisave or CHAS can help you with the costs. By taking advantage of these subsidies, you can make dental care more affordable and within reach.

Why is accessibility to dental so important?

Dental care is important for both oral health and overall health. Poor oral health has been linked to a number of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Dental care can also help prevent or treat these conditions.

The Singapore government clearly recognizes that making dental care accessible and affordable is essential for maintaining good oral health and overall health. That is why Medisave and CHAS are great ways to decrease the out-of-pocket costs for dental procedures and treatments.

What are other tips for saving on dental costs?

There are a few things you can do to save on dental costs:

  1. Check if you’re eligible for Medisave or CHAS. If you are, make use of these subsidies to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.
  2. If you’re not eligible for Medisave or CHAS, consider looking for a dental clinic that offers affordable rates.
  3. Some clinics offer packages for multiple dental treatments, so if you’re planning on having more than one procedure done, inquire about package prices.
  4. Pay attention to your oral hygiene and visit the dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings. Taking care of your teeth can help prevent problems down the road, and it’s always cheaper to prevent a problem than to treat one.

Following these tips can help make dental care more affordable and accessible, ensuring that you can maintain good oral health and overall health!

In conclusion, dental care in Singapore can be expensive, but it is possible to find ways to make it more affordable.
